Lesley Lewis fundraising for the Miscarriage Association at the Rotary Across Wales Walk 2013.Lesley Lewis completed the 42 mile Rotary Across Wales Walk on 22 June 2013.

She writes:

I’d always vaguely muttered about doing the walk one year, but was motivated to enter this year finally when I saw it was running on what would have been my baby’s due date. I lost my baby at just over 12 weeks, when a scan registered no heartbeat. I’m lucky enough to have other children but this loss has hit me so hard, not least because I met my baby on a scan at 11 weeks and saw it perfect in every tiny detail twirling around & sucking its thumb.

The Miscarriage Association has really helped me – even just reading other people’s stories in the memory garden has really helped me feel less alone in my grief.

I finished my 42 miles in a very respectable 14 hours at 6pm and despite the weather being terrible at times, particularly on the 2 tough climbs, I can honestly say I loved every minute!!

Altogether I raised nearly £1300 for the M.A. If this hadn’t happened to me, I’d never have done any of this so I guess its positives out of negatives and certainly a fitting way to mark the loss of my baby, who will always be the empty place at the table.
