8 October 2020

Two little lines, forever entwined

Two little lines
I had dared to dream
A future hoped for you
That’ll never be seen.

Ice creams on a warm day
You holding my hand
Family holidays
Castles of sand.

Yet our journey was bumpy
Right from the start
But you were not ectopic
6 weeks showed your heart

I started to hope then
All would be ok
I’d hold you and kiss you
Be your mum one day

Weeks passed with no issues
Just days ‘til our scan
That perfect image
Of our little man

As Christmas approached
A time filled with joy
Excitement to share
We think you’re a boy

But sadly this outcome
Was not meant to be
Whilst decorating the tree
I felt you leave me

I watched the lights sparkle
As you faded away
I screamed and I sobbed
As we parted ways

I knew I had lost you
I’ll never feel whole
Part of me died
My heart and my soul

Two lives to be parted
A journey to end
My child, my everything
A true lifelong friend.

No words can describe it
The pain deep inside
Nothing can relieve it
No tears I have cried

The world keeps on turning
But I want it to cease
I need time to breathe
To process my grief.

But I will keep on going
I must power through
I’ll find inner strength
And I’ll do this for you.

Though life must continue
I’ll never forget
The 8th of October
The day that we met.
