Lucky number 8

I suffered from recurring miscarriages.

My husband and I decided to start trying for a baby. We fell pregnant very easily. At 11 weeks I had slight bleeding so went to the early pregnancy clinic, where they scanned me.

I was asked to go back 10 days later and when we went back we had the devastating news that we had had a missed miscarriage.

Sadly the pills to complete the miscarriage didn’t work and 4 weeks later I was still testing positive and started losing a significant amount of blood. It turns out the baby had never left my body. We then had to have an emergency procedure to remove the baby from me.

We took our time coming to terms with what happened and decided we wanted to keep trying.

Sadly I had a further 6 miscarriages. I was a mess. A completely different person. Friends would announce pregnancies on social media while I stayed at home losing mine, every one like a punch to the gut!

We gave up all hope and started to consider alternative options.……. Then we had a very unexpected positive test!

The bleeding started and we thought this was miscarriage number 8. We arrived at the hospital to be told there was a new baby growing. We were given progesterone to support the pregnancy and I now have a 7 month old baby boy. The pregnancy wasn’t easy and I lost a lot of blood throughout the 9 months, but we made it!

I know I’m extremely lucky to have had this outcome and there will be so many others out there that feel like giving up, but sometimes miracles do happen! Lucky number 8 🍀
