I have an empty space in my womb
like a dark, eerily silent tomb
The silence stretches from my ears to my heart, my soul
Sweeping my strength, my emotions and leaving a gaping hole
Each month I await for the test to turn pink
Each month my hope fades, realising for me there is left no ink
One day there is a clot, a test, a missed bleed
My heart, races, I plan the impossible with dangerous speed
The silence narrows, hope, stifling its long reign, slowly easing its grasp, easing the pain
I am no longer empty, I will nurture I will mother, we will hold and cuddle and care for each other
But silence was lurking, its wound hadn’t healed, waiting to pounce, waiting for me to yield
The weeks passed, my womb began to fill
Until that one day, a clot a bleed, its fate was ill
I bled and bled until there was nothing left to bleed
Silence returned to its throne, I had nothing left, not even a seed.
Every day I keep fighting, I am a warrior, I have suffered loss and pain
I hide my blood soaked memories, no one sees a drop, not even a stain.
I have an empty space in my womb
like a dark, eerily silent tomb.
