11 November 2021

I lost my baby two days after finding out I was pregnant.

My situation was unique as I had a coil fitted and missed a period in the September, but thought nothing of it due to having had my contraception for 7 years! I assumed that stress or losing weight had caused my period not to come. As the weeks went by I took a trip to Zoheb’s family home in London, where his mum had mentioned to him in a conversation that she thought I was pregnant.

More time went by and then I had some horrific pain and bleeding in October. It didn’t seem like it was a period as it didn’t last as long and it just seemed so painful and different to normal. I continued with my daily life though – running 5K a day, going to work and the gym.

Then November came and I had what I thought where really powerful period symptoms. Also, my breasts had enlarged an incredible amount and I felt exhausted. It soon dawned on me that I could be pregnant. After taking many tests which came back positive, we confirmed that I actually was pregnant. We took in the news… We were both shocked and excited! We realised I had in fact been pregnant since September!

I started bleeding again 2 days later in work and I felt like I was about to collapse! We went to the doctors and were told to go to the hospital for blood tests, where I was tragically given the news that I was having a miscarriage. I will never forget the clots in the urine sample at the hospital.

The nurse and doctors sent me home to miscarry, where I spent over 2 weeks in bed crippled by pain and dizziness, along with ongoing pregnancy symptoms, and bleeding so heavily I couldn’t walk! My mind, body and soul were in complete shock!

I needed the coil to be removed due to the amount of pain I experienced, even months after the miscarriage. I also suffered from low blood pressure over the following months as I had lost so much blood.

My heart aches for the baby I never even had a scan of. I pray everyday for the little soul!

This year I will… I’m due to give birth in April 2023 and I feel I’m ready to create awareness around miscarriage and for anyone going through a similar situation to mine. I want to share my story and talk further about the feelings that mums and dads go through after this tragedy, to bring them closer together. I want to help others find light in the most darkest of times!
